Fulton County
     

 

 

 

Fulton County was formed in 1845 from a portion of Hickman County to become the 99th county in Kentucky. It is the western-most county in Kentucky and holds the namesake of Robert Fulton, inventor of the first practical steamboat. The elevation in the county ranges from 260 feet, the lowest in the state, to 500 feet above sea level. Being the westernmost county in Kentucky, it is located on the Mississippi River. Its county seat is Hickman, Kentucky.
